Law and Shankland in contention for Scotland debuts

Rachel Law and Rachel Shankland could make their international debuts this weekend after both were retained in Bryan Easson’s 25-player Women’s Six Nations squad.

Scotland are set to host France at Scotstoun on Sunday as they go in search of their first win of the 2020 Championship.

Interim head coach Easson has named a familiar squad, keeping faith with the baulk of the team that featured in the spring.

Megan Kennedy and Abi Evans return from injury, while scrum-half Law and centre Shankland are the only two new faces.

Easson said: “Selection has been tough, but it’s a credit to the players who have all worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks.

“The last time we played was back in February against England, so this fixture is important for us to see where we currently are as a squad.

“The players have been training with real purpose at our recent weekend camps and are all ready to push themselves against France.

“We are all working towards the collective goal of World Cup qualification and these rescheduled Six Nations fixtures provide the perfect opportunity to test ourselves against some tough opponents.”

Scotland started their campaign with a narrow 18-14 defeat to Ireland before England eased to a 53-0 win a week later in a match delayed by 24 hours due to adverse weather.

After facing France on Sunday, Scotland visit Wales in Round 5 before completing their re-arranged match with Italy in December.
