Six must-have backs for your Fantasy Rugby team in Round 2

Eve Higgins with Kerin Lake

The opening weekend of the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations delivered plenty of thrilling rugby and plenty of points for Fantasy players.

England affirmed their credentials as Championship contenders with a 57-5 victory over Scotland at the Dam Health Stadium in Edinburgh, while France also staked their claim with a 39-6 win against Italy.

Wales also got off to a winning start away at Ireland, with two tries from Donna Rose driving them to a 27-19 victory.

With Round 2 just days away, it’s time to make your selections to make sure you end the weekend top of your Fantasy Rugby leagues.

We take a look at the six backs that could make all the difference.

France – Caroline Drouin

France secured maximum points in Grenoble despite a stern test from Italy at the Stade des Alpes.

Madoussou Fall may have earned the most plaudits as the TikTok Women’s Six Nations Player of the Match, but fly-half Caroline Drouin was at the heart of France’s performance.

Drouin kicked 10 points as she controlled the France attack throughout and was equally impressive both on and off the ball.

The 24-year-old made 12 tackles and carried 52 metres, making her a potential big points earner as France take on Ireland in Toulouse.

Ireland – Eve Higgins

Standing in France’s way will be an Ireland side looking to bounce back from defeat at home to Wales.

It was a disappointing result for Greg McWilliams’ side but there were positives too as Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe and Linda Djougang ran over tries to establish a 14-5 lead.

Another positive was the performance of centre Eve Higgins, who could be a good pick for your Fantasy Rugby team.

Higgins made 80 metres from eight carries and broke six tackles in match where she was a real threat in attack, and someone who could score you plenty of points.

Hannah Jones v Ireland

Wales – Hannah Jones

Wales made a terrific start to their 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations campaign with their victory over Ireland, and centre Hannah Jones was a key part of that.

Jones capped off the victory with a 78th-minute try that was voted Try of the Round to ensure the win and deny Ireland a bonus point and was influential throughout the afternoon.

Jones made the most metres in the game with 101 from 14 carries and was a constant threat to a Wales side now looking to make it two from two against Scotland.

Scotland – Lisa Thomson

Wales will host a Scotland side hoping for a positive response to defeat at home to England.

England ran in nine tries but Scotland did manage to cause their visitors problems at times and Lisa Thomson saw plenty of action on both sides of the ball.

The Sale Sharks centre made eight tackles and nine carries, showing she has the potential to earn you points both in and out of possession.

Caroline Drouin kicks a penalty 27/

Italy – Alyssa D’Inca

Italy may not have scored a try against France in Round 1, but there were plenty of reasons to believe that they will be a difficult task for any team in the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations.

Centre Alyssa D’Inca is certainly one of those reasons as she posed a constant threat to the France defence.
D’Inca broke the line on a number of occasions, making 73 metres in total, and will certainly be a source of points for Fantasy Rugby players during the rest of the Championship.

England – Helena Rowland

In D’Inca and Italy’s way will be reigning champions England who will be out to keep their Grand Slam hopes alive with victory in Parma.

Forward Marlie Packer stole the show in Edinburgh with a hat-trick of tries against Scotland, but the performance of Helena Rowland at fly-half was equally impressive.

Rowland controlled the game from start to finish with a complete performance on both sides of the ball.

The Loughborough Lightning player made 10 tackles, 26 passes, and made 102 metres across 13 carries making her a great potential source of points for Fantasy Rugby players going forward.
